There is nothing to worry about as long as you remain respectful to Muslim countries, following the UAE Laws and regulations, especially during the month of Ramadan, However, Here’s 7 major tips you have to take note if you are spending Ramadan in the UAE.

1.No eating, drinking or smoking in public

Do not drink, eat or smoke in public during fasting hours. Regardless of your religion, this applies to all public places and public and private transportation. However, for non-Muslims if you want to eat, drink during fast hours, you have to stay indoors and out of sight or in areas within public places

2.No revealing clothes 

One important thing is to wear clothes decently. Avoid wearing revealing clothes that is too short, tights, or see-through out of respect to Muslims who are observing Ramadan, specifically when visiting public spot like malls, restaurants, hotels.

3. Workplace manners

During Ramadan, there’s a general rule of scheduling, working hours for federal government and ministry employees will be from 9am to 2pm during Ramadan, according to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. Private sector working hours are yet to be formally announced, but are expected to be shorter by two hours. If any urgent business meetings in line with Muslims, it will be best to schedule them in the morning when people are more focus and less exhausted.

4. Scheduling food and entertainment

During Iftar time, as much as possible avoid making dinner reservations as most restaurants will be busy serving for iftar feast, loud music is not allowed and pointless travels that will cause heavy traffic and uneasy.  Mostly during Ramadan, Entertainments such as clubs and bars are prohibited.

5. PDA or Public display of affection is not allowed

Public display of affection is generally considered impolite and indecent.

6. Ramadan night markets

Don’t worry, there is much to enjoy as well during Ramadan, we have night markets and souks out there. This must be fun to spend with your family and friends to catch up for food, stoppings and more.

7. be generous and friendly

During Ramadan, Muslims often donate to charities during the month and feed the hungry. And it isn’t bad to be like one, Start it with a friendly greetings to anyone you may randomly bump into, offering food to less fortunate, find opportunities to give genuine compliments throughout the day, this small kindness can mean so much more.
